Title: We Are

Artist: Layne

Age: 16 years old

I am a 16 year old Indigenous lad born and raised in Port Hedland. My artwork is inspired and represents culture and spiritual connection to country specifically depicting my heritage through my grandfathers, one who is of the Bunjima people and the other of the Noongar people both in Western Australia. The rainbow serpent represents the Noongar people, and the windmill is inspired by my families connection of hard work, life and country. The birds, kangaroo, goanna and fish all represent the wonderful bush life of living in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, a lifestyle of tradition that "Always was and Always will be."
